Jesus is the Better Sacrifice

As we saw last week, the old covenant laid the foundation for the new covenant inaugurated by the person and work of Jesus Christ. The external acts of worship in the tabernacle foreshadowed the day Christ would purify the consciences of his people and dwell among them. The blood of Christ, our great high priest, is superior to the animal sacrifices of the old covenant since his blood accomplishes a once-for-all-time redemption, secures an eternal inheritance for us, cleanses our consciences, and makes him the mediator of a new and better covenant. The blood of Christ sets us free and redeems us in every way.
