Jesus is the Better Moses

Sep 15, 2019    Jordan Elder

In our passage today, the author of Hebrews invites us to consider where Jesus is taking us. He exhorts us to “hold on” and “to strive” that we might get there. He also warns us against falling away into unbelief and sin. He does all of this through retelling an important part of Israel’s history— when Moses was leading them out of slavery in Egypt and toward the promised land Canaan. It’s really a complex passage in many ways, but underneath all the complexity is powerful gospel truth— that in and through Jesus we will find rest for our weary souls.
